MY STORY

A young man with dark, wavy hair and a beard, wearing a brown corduroy jacket over a light-colored shirt, stands outdoors with a blurred background of trees and overcast sky.

Storytelling means everything to me - and my family.

I grew up with my single mother, the poet Sanja Kacar. The two of us fled Yugoslavia as refugees of war in 1999, becoming Australian citizens shortly after. From as far back as I can remember, my mother’s poetry and flair for emotional storytelling - which always carried themes of pain into endurance, displacement and chaos into meaning and peace - painted my relationship with art and creativity.

Beginning my journey with arts, I began acting from when I was a child, up until my final years of high school when I found myself behind the camera for once, and from there, the expression of filmmaking took hold and never let go.

After graduating in Screen & Media at RMIT, my short films beginning with the student debut Unmade, have been recognised and screened internationally amongst independent film festivals.

My projects often revolve around memory, dreams, unresolved wounds, and unspoken truths which undoubtedly has stemmed from the early seeds of my mother’s poetry and profound impact her story and sacrifice has had on my life.

WORK WITH ME

A close-up of a person's face, lying down and looking intently, with a dark background and some blue lights in the distance.

Alongside my own films, I take a small number of editing and videography commissions - narrative, brand, and podcast work, long-form and short-form.

Recently, I have assisted the brand of developmental philosopher Max Stephens as well as the Victorian Greens, managing social media presence and content strategy.

I bring the same philosophy from my film work to commerical projects - with captivating storytelling at the forefront of every piece of media I cut together.

A man wearing a black cap and glasses, dressed in a red jacket, is outdoors on a sidewalk with green lawn and flowering bushes, holding a drone controller and looking at a drone in his hands.
Three men engaged in a conversation outside a building with a sign that reads 'DRUGGIST'. One man, with dark hair and a beard, is in the center and appears to be explaining something. The man to the left has dark hair and is wearing a striped shirt with suspenders, facing the man in the center. The man to the right is bald, wears glasses, and is dressed in a white shirt. The setting suggests a casual outdoor interaction on a sunny day.
A group of four people working together outdoors on a film or photography project, with lush green trees and bushes in the background. One person is holding a camera with a stabilizer, another is adjusting a light reflector, and the others appear to be involved in the setup or direction, all engaged in a collaborative effort.
